v BREED STANDARD v SHOWS -

UNOFFICIAL AND OFFICIAL
There are three types of different dog shows: unofficial, national and international. Unofficial shows can be arranged by any club. The results are not registered anywhere and the judges on unofficial shows don't have to be authorized on the breeds they are judging. On an unofficial only HP is awarded. CQ, CC and CACIB are awarded on official shows.

Official shows are arranged by clubs that belongs to the Swedish Kennelclub and all the results are registered and can be seen on SKK Hunddata. An official show can be either national or international. On a national show only CC is awarded. On an international shows both CC, reserve-CACIB and CACIB is awarded.


JUDGMENT AND PRICES

Quality judgment
In quality judgment the dog is assessed and awarded a price depending on how it's exterior and mentality matches with the breed standards demands. During the quality judgment it is not taken in to account how the other dogs in the class look and several dogs can get the same quality price. The quality prices that is awarded in quality judgment is:

1:st price - is given to dog that is considered to be a very good breeding result. Dogs awarded a 1:st price gets to continue in the competition judgment.

2:nd price - is given to dog that is considered to be a good breeding result.



3:rd price - is given to dog that is considered to be a acceptable breeding result.

0 price - is given to dog that is exterior not typical or has a fault that is considered to be disqualifying in the breeds standard or that show aggressive or clear flight behavior. Other deviations in the dogs mentality should be judged according to the breed standards demands. If the dog gets a 0 because it shows flight behavior or aggressiveness it also gets a addition Rapporteringskod A.

KEP - is given to dog that is shown in such condition that the judge can't form a clear opinion about the dogs quality. For example if the dog limps.

Competition judgment
The dogs that are awarded a 1:st price in the quality judgment get to continue in the competition judgment. Here the judge place the five dogs He or she likes best in the order 1:st, 2:nd, 3:rd, 4:th and reserve. The quality prices that is awarded in competition judgment is:

HP - means honor price. Is given to especially promising puppy, junior or intermediate dog and well-preserved veteran dog. And in the progeny and breeder classes HP is given to groups of homogeneous and excellent quality.

CQ - means certificate quality. Is given in all classes except for puppy class to dog that is of excellent type.

CC - means certificate. Is given to best placed dog respective bitch that is entitled to compete for certificate. When the dog has 3 CC of which one has to be taken after the dog is 24 months the dog becomes Swedish show champion.

CACIB - Is given only on international shows to best placed dog respective bitch that is entitled to compete for CACIB. Dogs entered in junior- or veteran class can't compete for CACIB.


CLASSES
There are different classes for your dog to compete in depending on the dogs age. Dogs and bitched is judged separately in respective classes. You can only enter your dog in one class except for progeny and breeder classes. The age limit for respective class must be attained the day before the beginning of the show. The classes I write about here are for official dog shows:

Puppy class 6-9 months
This class is for puppies that has the day before the dog show attained the age of 6 months but not over 9 months. In this class there is only competition judgment. HP is given to especially promising puppies. The dog that becomes BOB puppy continues in the finals. (On unofficial shows there is also a class for puppies between 4-6 months)

Junior class 9-15 months
This class is for dogs that has the day before the dog show attained the age of 9 months but not over 15 months. In this class it starts with quality judgment. The dogs awarded a 1:st price in quality get to continue in the junior competition class. HP is given to especially promising junior. CQ is given to dog of excellent type. Dogs that are awarded CQ get to continue in best dog-/bitch class. Dogs entered in junior class can not compete for CACIB.

Intermediate class 15-24 months
This class is for dogs that has the day before the dog show attained the age of 15 months but not over 24 months. In this class it starts with quality judgment. The dogs awarded a 1:st price in quality get to continue in the intermediate competition class. HP is given to especially promising dog. CQ is given to dog of excellent type. Dogs that are awarded CQ get to continue in best dog-/bitch class.

Open class from 15 months
This class is for dogs that has the day before the dog show attained the age of 15 months. In this class it starts with quality judgment. The dogs awarded a 1:st price in quality get to continue in the competition judgment. CQ is given to dog of excellent type. Dogs that are awarded CQ get to continue in best dog-/bitch class.

Championclass
This class is for dog that has attained a international, Swedish or other by SKK approved national dogs how championship. If the dog is a Swedish show champion it can only be entered in champion class unless it has attained the age of 8 years, then it can be entered in veteran class. In this class there is only competition judgment. CQ is given to dog of excellent type. Dogs that are awarded CQ get to continue in best dog-/bitch class. A dog that is entered in champion class does not have the right to compete for CC. If the dog is show champion in another country and wants a Swedish championship the dog should not be entered in champion class.

Veteran class from 8 years
This class is for dogs that has the day before the dog show has attained the age of 8 years. In this class there is only competition judgment. HP is given to well-preserved veteran. CQ is given to dog of excellent type. Dogs that are awarded CQ get to continue in best dog-/bitch class. Best veteran with CQ or HP get to continue in the finals for the days best veteran.

Best dog class - Best bitch class
This class is for dogs respective bitches that has on the current dog show been awarded CQ. In this class there is only competition judgment. Best dog and best bitch then compete against each other for Best of Breed and Best opposite sex. In this class CC is rewarded to best placed dog respective bitch that is qualified to compete for CC and on international dog shows CACIB and reserve CACIB is also awarded.

Best of Breed and Best opposite sex
This class is for best dog and best bitch from best dog class respective best bitch class. In this class the judge appoint who is Best of Breed (BOB) and Best opposite sex (BOS). The dog that becomes BOB then continues to compete in Best In Group (BIG).

Progeny class (alt. stud groups)
This class is for dogs that compete with a group of four offspring from at least two bitches or a bitch that compete with a group of four offspring. The stud respective bitch must participate in the progeny class and be presented with group. All dogs in the group has to have been at the current dog show judged in an official class and not have been awarded a 0 price or KEP. In this class there is quality judgment. The groups average quality when it comes to homogeneous in type and overall impression is judged. Groups of homogeneous and excellent quality can be awarded HP. The best placed group get to compete in the finals.

Breeder class
This class is for a group of four dogs of the same breed that has been breed with the same kennel name or is breed by the same person or a group of people. All dogs in the group has to have been at the current dog show judged in an official class and not have been awarded a 0 price or KEP. In this class there is quality judgment. The groups average quality when it comes to homogeneous in type and overall impression is judged. Groups of homogeneous and excellent quality can be awarded HP. The best placed group get to compete in the finals.

Best In Group and Best In Show
All BOB-winning dogs compete against each other in respective group. The five best dogs in every group gets placed and the winning dogs becomes Best In Group (BIG). All BIG-winning dogs then compete against each other about becoming that dog shows most beautiful dog in Best In Show.
